About skill.games

skill.games is a home for games of skill: classic card, board and puzzle games where good decisions beat luck. Chess and checkers, Go and Gomoku, backgammon, rummy, Hearts, and lesser-known gems such as Amazons, Lines of Action and Sholo Guti - each one a game you can get better at.

Made by us, game by game

Every game on skill.games is our own work. We wrote the rules, built the computer opponents, drew the boards and cards, and recorded the sounds. Nothing is embedded from another website. Our games come from Playarena Online LLC, the studio behind the Offline Games collection, and we have rebuilt each one for the web so it opens in a second and plays smoothly on any screen.

A real opponent at every level

Each game lets you choose how strong the computer plays. On Easy it makes the kind of mistakes a beginner makes; on Hard and Crazy it plans ahead, remembers what has been played and punishes loose moves. The levels are tested by having the computer play itself thousands of times, so each level is clearly stronger than the one below it.

Play with your friends

Most games with an opponent can also be played with friends. Choose Play with a friend in the game's settings, share the link it gives you - in a message, an email or any app - and your friends sit down at the table as soon as they open it. There is nothing to install and no account to make: choose the name the others will see, and play. In games for three or more players, seats nobody takes are played by the computer, so one friend is enough to start, and in team games you choose who partners whom. When a game ends, everyone can play again at the same table. Your results with friends are kept as a record of their own.

Learn the game, then master it

Every game has a guide that explains the rules in plain words, how to play on skill.games, and strategy tips that will make you a stronger player - from opening ideas in chess to knowing when to knock in Gin Rummy. Several games also offer variants: fourteen rule sets for checkers, three board sizes for Go and Mill, and table options for Durak.

Play anywhere, pick up where you left off

skill.games works on phones, tablets and computers, in portrait or landscape. If you leave in the middle of a game, it is saved in your browser, and you can continue the next time you visit. Your record at each level - wins, losses, win rate and best streak - is kept too, so you can watch yourself improve.

Free to play

skill.games is free, alone or with friends. It is supported by advertising: now and then a full-screen ad appears as a game begins, and it never interrupts a game in progress. There are no accounts, no downloads, no purchases and no real-money play.
